New Head Introductory Letter
A warm hello from Mrs Anderson, your new Headteacher
Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,
I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Headteacher at Riverside. My appointment was confirmed close to the end of term, so I was unable to write to you before I started. It is lovely to have this opportunity to say hello now. I hope that you all had a lovely two-week break with your children.
I am looking forward to getting to know your children and learning their names — all 337 of them! That may take me a little while. I have worked in primary education throughout my career, including the last 14 years as a headteacher at several schools in Plymouth, with two of these being in the St Budeaux area. Before that, I worked as an education adviser for the local authority, supporting schools
I want every child to feel safe, welcome and ready to learn. You know your child best, and I value the knowledge and ideas you bring. I look forward to listening to you and learning about what makes Riverside special. As the school motto states, “Do your best, try your hardest… incredible things might happen,” we want to ensure that incredible things do happen for each and every child at the school.
Over the next few weeks, I hope to meet as many of you as possible, whether before school, at school events or at one of our ‘Meet Mrs Anderson coffee times (and biscuits)’. Please come and say hello — I would love to meet you. I am proposing the following times to have a coffee with me in the drama room:-
Tuesday 10th November at 2.30pm
Wednesday 18th November at 2.30pm
Tuesday 24th November at 9am
Thank you for welcoming me to Riverside. I look forward to working together to support your children.
With best wishes,
Mrs Maria Anderson
Headteacher
